The husband who wouldn't have sex for 6 years...it sounds like he may have aspergers syndrome. Sex problems in men with this form of autism are very common, and the reasoning that the wife had her period on her honeymoon and wouldn't look at his penis are irrational to typical men. Men with AS can be unbelievably sensitive to ANY percieved slight or rejection in the area of sex. Some men with AS won't ever have sex. There's so much "confusing" interpersonal stuff going on during sex for them to "decode". The stress and fear is overwhelming for them. Some men with aspergers syndrome will rarely think of their wifes sexual gratification, only concerned and focusing on theirs. This is not to hurt the wife, but in some men with AS, the self focus is just so intense, it's difficult to break. This is especially true of men who have never had therapy or treatment, and who are very stuck in their ways of thinking and doing things.
My husband has AS. I'm familiar with the ways it manifests itself in a relationship.
This is, of course, not applicable to all men with aspergers syndrome. The presentations are different for each individual.
