You’ll love Mark’s reaction to this mornings article, Health Benefits of Female Masturbation
Mark cools down a little and Debbie brings e-mails to the show dealing with adultery; a wife sleeps with her husband’s best friend, a husband commits adultery and leaves ministry. A wife e-mails the show about having a great marriage but is worried about never being the ‘initiator’ of sex. Another wife finds condoms and suspects her husband of cheating on her with his friend ‘sugar .’

LOVE IT, LOVE IT–IT MAKES ME SMILE AND LAUGH!!
Ok, this one’s really been bothering me. I get routine masturbation can’t and/or shouldn’t replace the real deal in a monogamous marriage…but I have a very different perspective on the article you sited. If 61%, or nearly 2 out of 3 men masturbate, that leaves only 40% who don’t – ugh. If 30% of women masturbate, that’s 70% who are not – not so bad comparatively speaking! I didn’t hear if this was of all adults or simply married adults…either way, I have a question then:
So are you saying the act of masturbation is sinful, period, no exceptions?
I’d be really interested in the motivation of men versus women for their choosing to masturbate. I wonder if many of these women who masturbate aren’t statistically perhaps those single moms raising kids and working two jobs to support them, divorcees who’s husbands traded them for a younger model, women who’re in marriages where the husbands believe the ’1-2 minute weekly service act’ is a gift to be cherished, or who’s spouse abuses them – don’t they almost have ‘rights’ for self-gratification once in awhile (vs. choosing adultery or living in depression etc.) – personally, advocating no masturbation irregardless of circumstances seems shortsighted to me!!
Now, perhaps, when in monogamous, committed marriages if masturbation replaces the real deal and/or is coupled with porn and other ilicit sex acts…I see your point, but isn’t it then merely a symptom to society’s bigger issues – divorce, adultery, abuse, depression, stress etc.. If an article merely points out that it’s medically ‘ok’ and mentally ‘helpful’ in certain situations, then I can hardly say the website is advocating the devil’s work!?
