Mark starts the show talking about asking God, “Why?” and discusses how to deal with the difficulties of life when you are a Christian. An email comes in from a woman wondering what to do with her husband’s porn habit, a young woman needs to know if it’s okay to marry a guy 14 years older than she is, and a husband is looking for an unbiased opinion as to whether or not he is neglecting his family.
I agree with Mark on the discussion of getting mad at God, but I would like to add – while getting mad at God is never justified, God certainly is the safest place to get mad. After repentence, God will not hold it against you that you got mad at Him. He will forgive you and never bring it up again. I don’t know anyone else who would do that, whether the anger is justified or not. Also, a pastor in our church suffered the loss of his son. He shared that he had moments of asking God “Why?” He shared that God’s response was that he shouldn’t be asking why but rather should be rejoicing because his son was now in heaven.
In reference to the discussion on being mad at God I heard Susan Isaacs on the Steve Brown Etc. show. She talked about her wrong view of God and how she realized after some counseling that she was a “golddigger” as wanting to be the bride of Christ. I think many in the church want Christ for the same reasons. Only the good and not the bad. Here is a link to the program she discussed this on.
